Attorney Ashley Starling discusses what to do if you were to lose control of your vehicle on ice. She emphasizes not to turn the vehicle in the opposite direction but to turn your vehicle in the direction of which it is sliding.
“Good morning. I’m Ashley Starling with Willis Spangler Starling and this is your weekly winter safety tip. I am standing outside here with Scary Snowman. We made Scary Snowman this past weekend and we did not have a carrot or some coal so instead we used some spray paint and he looks kind of like a scary clown. My kids call his Scary Snowman, but we are outside here to talk about what to do if you lose control of your vehicle on ice. The most important thing that you have to remember is if you start to lose control of the vehicle, your natural reaction is going to be to turn your wheel in the opposite direction of which you are starting to turn.
You don’t want to do that. You actually want to turn into the slide in order to regain control of your vehicle. So just remember if you are on ice this weekend and it is very likely that you will be, because we are expecting a large snow and also so much ice, remember to turn you wheel in the direction in which you are sliding in order to prevent an accident. Again, I’m Ashley Starling with Willis Spangler Starling and this is your weekly winter safety tip.”
